The last thing you want to feel when you walk into class is that nauseating knot in the pit of your stomach when you realize that you have a test today. A test for which you did not study. All of us have been there at least once, and all of us know the kind of sweaty palmed, heart rate elevating stress that is induced by such a realization.

There are a lot of ways that you can find out what learning style you are but just simply taking a test can help you understand how you should be learning. Many of these tests ask questions that pertain to how you remember things so you can almost just skip these tests by taking a look at what is most effective for you when you are learning.

If you don’t keep a record of what you are doing to be successful when you are learning, then you won’t be as progressive. Make sure that you are keeping track of all of the little things that help you internalize concepts and help you move forward with learning.

As you study, employ a variety of memorization and learning techniques. Write things down, say them out loud , and even put them to music if you so desire. Doing this gives your brain the ability to more easily retrieve the information you are learning. Additionally, request a study aid from your professor or at least communicate with them so that you have a clear understanding about what you will be tested on.

You may be going to Fort Collins College and you may just want to apply some of these learning strategies in the classroom. It is important to have an idea before you get started and that means that if you are going to test your audible learning, then you trust your instincts and put down your pencil and just listen. You could even do a recording so you can listen again later. You may have been taught to take notes before but that might not be the strategy that works best for you so just trust your learning and give it a try. Another thing that you could do is forgo the writing and start drawing models that will help you remember.
