Each year the sports behemoth celebrates its famous Air Max range, and it commissioned ManvsMachine to create the global campaign and promotional films around it. “This Nike Air Presto Donna year’s approach was to reveal the inspiration, design, and manufacturing process from idea to shop floor of each of the Nike Air Max 2016 Donna three most influential sneaker designers in the world: Hiroshi Furjiwara, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker, collectively known as HTM,” says the agency.

Each designer’s “mind mechanics” was brought to life in a series of kinetic sculptures, aiming to emphasies ideas around “movement and energy,” ManvsMachine says: “The kinetic sculptures defy the rules of physics, gravity and force, often breaking them. We see a whimsical side to the manufacturing process, set within simple and elegant art directed spaces inspired by the real world.”

These sculptures were captured on film and through a series of colourful still images, making 2016’s approach to designs around Air Max Day a more abstract, conceptual affair than in previous years.

“We wanted to create a clean visual Adidas Nmd Damen language that would reel out across a vast number of deliverables. It Nike Air Max 2017 Femme actually ended up being more of a rebrand than a simple campaign,” says the agency. “Many rules were set and a kit of parts were created which went out to multiple design studios to expand on the campaign… We’ve been lucky to work on numerous projects for Nike over the years but this one is by far the largest in scale yet.”

Online marketplace StockX is celebrating the Nike Air Max range with an exhibition showcasing rare editions of the trainers.

"Rair" will be curated by The Drop Date and Sneaker Freaker, and will have 20 pairs of Air Max trainers from 2002 to 2010.

The activation will recognise the "golden years", when Nike partnered designers, artists and musicians to create the shoes that, StockX says, are "still amongst the most sought-after trainers to buy today".

Among the products on display will be the Parra x Nike Air Nike Air Max 2016 Femme Max 1 Cherrywood, which was last Adidas ZX Flux Damen sold in the UK for £4,500, and the Nike Air Max 90 White Volt designed by Kaws, which is sold for between £600 and £1,100.

Visitors will be able to learn about each trainer on display and understand the history of the shoes. They will also be able to buy some of the shoes through StockX.

The company on Thursday opened a new flagship store in New York City, the culmination of years of internal research into personalised, experiential shopping. The six-floor building, a template for locations Nike has planned for cities around the globe, is designed to work seamlessly with the Nike app, letting shoppers check out on their phones, ask to have clothing delivered to dressing rooms and schedule appointments with an in-house stylist.

Shoppers automatically become NikePlus members after downloading the Nike Air Max 90 Womens Nike app-membership that bestows on them such perks as discounts, personalised recommendations and exclusive product offers. NikePlus members already spend three times more on Nike.com than guests do, and the world's biggest seller of sneakers Nike Air Presto Femme and athletic apparel believes it can achieve that ratio in physical stores as well, with a few tweaks to the traditional retailing model.
